While waiting for my games from Gamefly to arrive in the mail, I’ve been downloading free trials of arcade games from Xbox live. I played a few good old classics, such as Gauntlet and Street Fighter 2. One of the games I downloaded, Aegis Wing, turned out to be the full version of the game! At first I thought it was a mistake, but sure enough Microsoft decided to give the full game away to everyone on Xbox Live. The game has multiplayer, achievements with gamerscore points, and everything else that you’d expect from a full game.

The game is a side-scrolling spaceship shooting game, similar to old classics such as Lifeforce, Gradius, and Defender. I recently completed my first achievement, Halfway Point, by finishing mission 3. The game is fun, and the price is certainly right!

To download your free copy of Aegis Wing now, load up the Xbox Live dashboard, go to the games window, select Xbox Live Arcade, select Download Games, and then select All Arcade Games. Aegis Wing should be near the top of the list. Scroll down to it, select the game, and choose to download it. From now on Aegis Wing will appear in the games window in your list of My Arcade Games.
